At first I didn't like how Larsen questioned the killer's own recollections until it detailed how he lied in his "biography" to gain sympathy. Interesting thus far.

Finished the main book, currently reading the notes and sources at the end.

I like Larson but I think he picked a very bad way to tell this story. Glad I'm finally at a section devoted to the serial killer, but by the time we got there I forgot a lot of the details from his brief "cameos" throughout the rest of the book.

As a true crime book, I'm disappointed, but it's interesting for the information about the fair. Loved Susan B. Anthony's argument for why the Fair should be open on Sundays LOL.

I continue to wish Larson would focus more on the "devil." The fair stuff is interesting, but I really want to read about Holmes. At the beginning there was quite a bit about him, but lately it seems like there are occasional interludes where he appears for like 5 pages before returning to more details about the Fair.

The World's Fair stuff is sort of interesting but the serial killer is more so, so I'm not sure why those sections seem so overlooked. Didn't realize that the Ferris wheel was invented to "out-Eiffel Eiffel."
