Just finished 'The Haunting of Hill House' This is a genuinely scary novel, with its mixture of supernatural place-based inexplicable terror and the gradual slipping away of sanity of the protagonist. It would not be so scary if there weren't such wonderful moments of lightness and humour as well; enormously insightful about people as well. Great stuff.
