The last quarter of the book is wherd most of the character connectio happens. You do get an "ah ha" moment connected to the historical aspect and there are some very good scenes between Johnny and Raine, enough that I did find myself pulling for them. The clearest message is that your dreams are your own, and they don't have to be the grand, conquer the world type, not unless YOU want them to be.

And I'm still not sure how I feel about it. The first third felt like 'skim writing', something like when we skim through reading. Now that some of the characters have had time to connect more realistically, I'm more into it.
