deliberating whether to quit this one 180 pages in. while the concept is good the book wears its research on its sleeve - every period detail has been shoehorned in - and the narrative is really baggy. I can't help editing it as I go - there's some good writing in there but its too long. I'm bored - never a good sign... but I hate to give up so soon!
