Tbh, Depp has a very tasteful formula and style of acting but it doesn't make him a great actor. Same goes to Mads Mikkelsen. I'd say even Tom "the Pretty Face" Cruise has a better understanding on acting, no mention Keanu Reeves, or even Hiddleston. I wonder what happened to actors. Actresses were highly uncomfortable with forming a brand-like formula. Johansson has it which makes her acting tedious.

Asta Different generation. Can't say too much about DDL, only watched two of his works. Irons is an actor with a formula but his formula is Shakespearian instead of a rigid selling method, which rendered him everything in his future career needs. If I'm not taking it wrong, those well-trained English actors among his generation had Shakespear carved in their bones, JI, Christopher Lee, Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, etc, their career sprout from the understanding of Shakespearian characters or at least one of them, and along their way of acting the focus will shift in regard to whichever character they take. And the remarkable thing is under their personas there's a fictional soul grows from Hamlet or Prince Harry to King Lear or Prospero, or even Othello or Macbath. DDL likely ends with Prospero, JI is...I think he still refuses to settle which is the reason why he is and still capable of staying in the game.

Hiddleston likely has this tradition in him btw.
