I've been in a stress-induced reading slump lately (hence the inactivity on GR) and for good reason, but I want to drag myself out of it before it's too late. Do you have any suggestions for something to read on a long, tiring, stressful, almost 40-hour plane trip? Realistically, I know I won't actually read anything (I'll just sit and drown in random thoughts) but it's nice to have options in mind.

Hope you like it :)

Looks good, but it's only 91 pages, what would I do the rest of the trip :(
(the answer is cynical, depressive overthinking but I'm trying to avoid that particular scenario)
I'm honestly useless when it comes to recommending books that are meant to help with something, but how about an audiobook? Like a good story or something. They help me with these reading slumps.

I lose interest pretty quickly when I'm anxious and bored, so need something to keep me engaged.
مردم مشوش از بکمن چیز جذاب و سرگرم کننده ای بود. به چشم سرگرمی که عالی بود. هرچند واسه من بیشتر از صرف سرگرمی داشت
Bassani's cycle on Ferrara The Novel of Ferrara (six slender books), Jon Kalman Stefansson's trilogy Heaven and Hell, The Sorrow of Angels, The Heart of Man; a classic like Jan Potocki's The Manuscript Found in Saragossa..
Maybe you need something that wakes your curiosity 🤔 and a nice classic crime novel from Aghata Christie or something like that will work for you

That's exactly what I thought as well. I don't usually read mysteries or crime novels but I feel like some good old Sherlock Holmes might just be what I need on this trip. Thank you! 😊

Yesss. Children's hearwarmingbreaking books for life. Thanks a lot! 😍
Just started reading Frenchman's Creek by Daphne Du Maurier and it feels like the kind of book that would be wonderful to read on such a long flight :)
بنظرم یه فانتزی شروع کن، که هم روون باشه، هم هیجان انگیز هم طولانی. و بهت خوش بگذره و به چیزای دیگه فکر نکنی
This is irrelevant but for the love of god watch out for your phone I lost mine for 5 minutes in istanbul airport and I have never been more scared in my life.
What I would recommend most for the situation you've described is Olga Tokarzcuk's Flights. The name may make you want to roll your eyes, but I feel like it's a doubly interesting book to read on a plane, the sections are shorter so you can pause and reflect or read slowly, would be a delight to listen to, and you'll probably enjoy it more given your background in biology. Whatever you choose, I hope you emerge from your slump soon :)

Actually, this type of book is the opposite of eye-roll inducing for me. I'm done with the flight, but I'll add "flights" to my reading list for sure.
And thank you, I hope I'll emerge from the slump soon, too. I ended up not reading a word on the flight though!
Kimia wrote: "This is irrelevant but for the love of god watch out for your phone I lost mine for 5 minutes in istanbul airport and I have never been more scared in my life."That's actually good advice. I didn't lose it. And I did your recommended people watching quest which was the most fun I've had in an airport ever!

Thank you Pooja! I'll keep it in mind! I looked it up, it's a mystery, so it can probably keep me occupied and entertained.
