Right now, my book has slowed. It was more interesting a couple chapters ago because the protagonist and her friend were searching for the person who bought the winning lottery ticket. But now, the protagonist's brother is sick so the search is on hold.

Nic Stone described this book as being about economic disparity, and of course, she's right! It's interesting how she's taking this idea and threading it throughout the story. I would have loved to read the previous draft of the book, which was A LOT longer. Curious what she cut out...

I found the author's use of inanimate objects as "characters" interesting. I just finished a chapter that was told from the point of view of a crumbled up to-do list, which seems random....but it actually showed me a lot about the character who threw away the to-do list.
