First book, A Wizard of Earthsea, finished! And wow I’m really feeling Ursula’s mastery. It’s nothing outlandish, or striking, but a slow realisation of awe and wonder. She gently pulls feelings of warmth and curiosity from you, and the way she writes about interactions between people really makes me happy. The style of language she uses really sets the tone for this magical world. I’m in love.
