The book was fine up until this point

The MC and main person of the act disappears and arrives mere minutes before audition? Fine, no ones mad at her. MC gets caught kissing the wrong guy? Absolutely blows up in her face

(who she KNOWS she shouldnt kiss oh my god, why did she do that, she was just going on a self-loathing train why did she do that???)

at least the romance isnt completely lacking chemistry

I was planning on more or less reading this whole book in a day for the Queer Lit Weekend, but this book isnt that engaging to keep my attention. It's not bad (although Birdie has said "negro" which is probably historically accurate but still :\ ) its just not good

Like, Im not connected enough to Birdie's emotions and how tragic her homelife is to be like "yes, this death defying path is reasonable"
