The build up to this moment really paid off! I guessed that Mr. Elton had feelings for Emma rather than Harriet even before Mr. John Knightley suggested so, but I never could have guessed how the moment paid off. The slow building realization from Emma of Mr. Elton's affections into the spectacular tenseness of the scene in the carriage ride was my favorite moment of the novel so far.
