Notes:
(1) Scott Snyder's decent at creating new villains, but his new hero characters suck!
(2) There's these new kids, Harper Row and her gentle brother Cullen... boy am I tired of teen geniuses who excel at everything, including beating up gangsters and ninjas!
(3) Practically perfect people are platitudinous!
(4) Pretty please! A flaw or vice or idiosyncrasy! Something!

Notes:
(1) I'm slogging through this right now. It's all decent stuff, but there's no connective tissue. I'm always having to re-calibrate where each story is chronologically.
(2) I've always thought Greg Capullo is overrated as an artist. He's fine enough, but nothing about his style appeals to me, his covers are boring, and he can't draw women's faces for the life of him.

Notes:
(1) Weird reading a book made up of one-shots and backups. In a way, it's a throwback to the days when nearly all issues were stand-alone stories. Now everything's serialized by default.
(2) It's interesting reading Tynion's backups, knowing what he'd become... the most successful of Snyder's initial acolytes, a list that includes Marguerite Bennett and Kyle Higgins.

Notes:
(1) This is the first Batman volume I've read since 2018. Such is the breadth of my comic TBR that I've read several hundred books and haven't come back to this series until now.
(2) This is made up of orphan one-shots and fill-in work, stuff that were cut from previous volumes. That's fine with me. I'm not a Greg Capullo fanboy, and could do with some different art.

Mystic Thoughts on The Batman trailer Jayson? I gasped at the "I am vengeance" scene, Pattinson is gonna kill it!

I liked the trailer. I disliked some of the design choices, but I thought it's got the right tone and will probably be a decent murder mystery.

Mystic Hmm agreed. The designs are most likely gonna be improved though as the movie is nowhere near finished but really digging the David Fincher noir detective vibes & the casting choices seem to be great as well.

I have some issues with the casting, but I'll reserve judgement on that until I actually see it.

Mystic Which ones are the issue for you? I think Pattinson should be fine, Jeffrey Wright as Gordon looks fantastic, Colin Farrell's Penguin makeup is done really well, Paul Dano is one of my favorite actors; his Riddler seems creepy. I'm doubtful about Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman I really don't like her acting, not sure about her looks either & Andy Serkis as Alfred is definitely not the best choice, they could have done much better there but he's a good actor so let's see how he approaches this.

Everyone just feels like weird and atypical casting for me. I don't know if anyone would be my first choice for their roles, and I reacted to every casting announcement with either indifference or disappointment. But, I had doubts about Heath Ledger playing Joker too, so I'm open to being proven wrong.
