Although tough at times to read, I am really loving that this story is told from the perspective of lower class people - the ones mostly suffering from the fates of the rulers / nobles. You don't often get this perspective, and usually not as the primary one(s) either.

Wow, reading how the Eika just overtook Gent was amazing. It was just this big messy clusterfuck battlefield and mix of civilians trying to escape. I was happy the one saint intervened to lead some people to safety (through Liath).
I can't wait to read the final battle section and continue with the next book already.

I don't understand how Alain got away with releasing the Eika prisoner. How did he not get in trouble, or it get at least mentioned again?

I really really hope that Liaths done with that terrible terrible man. That whole section was the worst to read. I just turned the pages as fast as possible.
