Cassie is the main character. She lives with both of her parents and her one sister Allie in Wolf Creek Minnesota. Cassie's mom runs a daycare at their house. Cassie is not happy with it because she has bad phobia of germs. One day Cassie goes to her friend Paige's house and Paige told her their was a virus going around the world and a lot of people are getting sick schools are being closed. Cassie is in shock.

People are starting to catch the flu and its spreading pretty quickly. People in Cassie's school are sick with the flu and half of the school isn't there. Cassie is trying her best to stay away from sick people but its hard because their everywhere she goes. She's trying her best to get the flu shot and she's convincing her mom to let her. Characterization is used to show Cassie's fear towards pathogens.
