so far of all the New Lecture Hall lectures that Hardy "did not give" I am grateful that he "did not give" the one in chap. 5 of part 4 (pg.201-208). Good Gracious to imagine Hardy owning such thoughts would make me lose respect for him despite his genius!! :).I feel the humor distasteful and the writing devoid of literary insight in subtleties of mother-son relationship.

chapter 3 of part 3.So fascinated with Ramanujan's story.some amusing quotes; "women are such unfathomable creatures, so conscious of one another as potential competitors,allies,or prey!" & then "Both women watch Ramanujan closely. It's as if for them, every facet of the Indian,evenhis genius,has an aroma as exotic and pungent as the food" & lastly "No human being,no matter how spiritually evolved, is free of vanity.

euphoric feeling of getting to be an audience to the personal journeys of great intellectuals (Bertarnd Russel my fav)is somewhat taken away by the feeling of disgust at
sexual behavior being attributed or depicted...whatever..:( I may ignore that aspect of these luminaries and hope to engulf in the intoxicating feeling of knowing intellectual
lives of these scholars!
