A few years ago I attempted to read the unabridged TCoMC, and it was a disaster. I love a long book, but it has to be filled with story. The style at the time was for language and emotion to take precedence, and it was written prior to the advent of paragraph breaks for dialog during a conversation, making some scenes almost unreadable to me. My impression was of a dictionary-length book with a paperback-length story
