I really despise people who want to coddle authors and act like writing isn't a job, and writers should get all kinds of special treatment and not have to answer for it when they don't get their work done. What part of "career" is so bloody hard to understand?

Marie Careers are hard! Sometimes other people tell you you're bad at them. That's why they go into writing!

Kaia To me, writing is a career. It's the only thing I want to do with my life. And that means hard work, and lots of it. Writing is great and all, and it can be a lot of fun, but any writer who is unwilling or unable to admit that it's work shouldn't have a career. Especially if they're not willing to do the work itself.

Marie Oh definitely. I know I don't have the drive to make a living off of writing, so I keep a day job. Maybe someday, bit I know myself better than that to try it now, before I've finished anything work even as much as the paper/electricity it's written on.
