Our neighbor girls have been talking up the Lord of the Rings movies to Hazel... so I suggested we try reading the Hobbit and see how that goes. We started this morning and met Bilbo and Gandalf. We'll meet the Dwarfs tonight! So far she's pretty interested!

We just wrapped up the Beorn chapters after three reading sessions... each of which Hazel fell asleep during. She really likes action and bad guys so recuperating after the mountain encounters did not capture her imagination at all. Luckily flies and spiders are up next... though we have to get through a long stretch of mirkwood first... Still, can't wait for Smaug!
