This book has some dark subject matters for being a teen lit title, with issues covered like: abuse, the morality of abortion, and the use of religion to corrupt morality, and even rape and sexual predators... well, its dark.
The book combines the elements of Lord of the Flies and the victimization of the female protagonist of the Hunger Game's book 2: Catching Fire.
