I roll my eyes when folks toss “This should be required reading!” around, but oh my goodness this should so be required for all Floridians to read. These events happened only 40 years before I was in public school in Florida, and I’ve not heard a word of it. Anyone who denies the existence of systemic racism and the generational pain and fear Black communities live with needs to spend time with this book.
