Non-story observation ... I really hate the new covers. The illustration style isn't one I like at all, and I also think they are too "cutesy" for the stories. Maybe it's just me, but...if I hadn't already read book one (with the original cover), I'd have passed this series by because of the covers. I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but sometimes I totally do.

These aren't even that old! I wonder what the reason is. The original looks self published so it isn't a switch due to Publishers. Weird.

I was wondering the same thing. The new cover for book 1 looks like a slouchy Jake Gyllenhaal. Not. A. Fan. And this one is even worse.
I'm like you, I don't want to judge a book by its cover but ugh. It works the other way too. It kills me when a beautiful book cover has a terrible story.Do you know how many will be in this series?
I have no idea how many are planned.
