Even if every inmate has the same issued sneakers, that does not mean that there would not be any “distinguishing marks” on the treads. People walk differently and that reflects on the wear on the treads of shoes. You also have to consider tears, foreign matter, such as pebbles or dirt, or a small manufacturer defect in the tread. You can also determine size from shoe prints.

I am stuck. I don’t know if I can keep reading this book. The mistakes made about the forensics has thrown me off. I read her letter to the readers at the beginning of the book and almost died when she said she had written 19 books before this one. What other inconsistencies has she made in the previously written books? She refers to herself as a child prodigy in the letter. It made me gag. I think I’m done.

The book so far is well written, but I have come across some inaccurate forensic information. The blood spatter pattern is inaccurately described as, “blood splatter.” This may not seem a big deal to those outside of the field of forensics, but I believe books should reflect the correct terminology because the public should ingest the correct terminology and not become part of the “CSI Effect”.
