Sobering thought...Jefferson's slaves (like many other) had to get permission from their master/overseer to get baptized...(most of the slaves that wanted to be baptized had already done it covertly, but just to think that somebody had the audacity to think that they could even control your salvation?!?! That blows my mind. There were a lot of "wow, they didn't add that in the hisotry books" moments....,
