I'm really enjoying the 3rd Culture book! So far, each one has been different: book 1, an epic space opera; book 2, a cerebral battle of wits; & book 3 is something else entirely. There's lots of subtext & symbolism at work here, not to mention some flashy chronology tricks, & Banks never loses control of it. I think it's the most complex of the first 3 books, though I'll be more certain once I'm finished!
