I still can’t believe there are 15 of these...+countless spin offs.
I guess Baum figures out a formula that worked so why not, right?
I always end up not liking them and then he brings in Oxnard or Dorothy, or the Scarecrow, Lion etc towards the end and I’m like ...oh I like this story again...

Reads like a true fairy tale, which, of course, it is! Although I do find myself patiently waiting when the familiar characters inevitably show up :)
