In the beginning of chapter 3, it talks about the AFL Chiefs. The chiefs were off to prove the fans wrong. The AFL had only won one super bowl and people called the jets win a fluke. The chiefs were determined to prove them wrong. At the end, the kicker had scored about 70%of the points. He kicked a 45 yard field goal that was a record for the longest field goal in super bowl history for 30 years

Joe Namath believed that an AFL team could win the super bowl. He played for the jets and 3 days before the super bowl, he told reporters that the jets were gonna win. Everyone laughed because no one believed him. They thought he was crazy, but if you have a goal, you can accomplish that goal. No matter what the obstacle is, you can do it and for Namath it was winning the super bowl.

At the end of chapter two the author gives us a slight foreshadow. It talks about how the AFL was believed to never be as good as the NFL. Everyone had disbelieved the league could put up a fight after the packers destroyed them in the super bowl. It says how the AFL would never be able to compete with the NFL. It ends with it saying, “Or would they?”

Vince Lombardi was one of the greatest coaches in football history and led the packers to win the first two Super Bowls. But in both games he was nervous. He could have a 20 point lead and still be nervous about losing the game. He coached his team to never assume they would win and no longer try. That’s what a lot of people do now, they get a lead and blow it because they think they’ll win.

I forgot what the ideas we are supposed to write about but I have a personal connection. It talks about how this is the game that almost everyone watches. There is always something about the super bowl that everyone likes. My mom hates football, but she watches the game to see the halftime show and commercials.
