being interested in such a “trivial” thing. He only showed his drawings to Prue when she was in the hospital, and now she makes fun of his quirky drawings of monsters. His artistic nature is significant because it makes him different from the rest of his family, interested in things other than wealth and power and instead in things that he himself enjoys. He is more creative than them and will find a better (4/?)

solution to the whole demon-going-to-claim-your-soul situation instead of resorting to killing himself or others. He will find a creative, peaceful solution and that will be the thing that Prosper will be known for. (5/5)

“For a second, I just stared at them [leaves of ivy], trying to match their colors to the paint I had hidden in a box under my bed” (54). The significance of his artistry is that he is pretty much the only person in his huge family to have an interest in art, except for a few avid musicians. He doesn’t like showing his art to anyone, even his parents, because he feels as if people will treat him differently for (3/?)

13 years ago. Prosper tells them that he is only twelve, but they remind him that his birthday is in two weeks. Long story short, Prosper is doomed and has a Malefactor-demon-fiend as a co-host to his body. One adjective to describe Prosper is that he is artistic. He’ll sometimes look at things and try to match the color to one on his pallet, and he likes to draw the things around him as well. (2/?)

Prosper’s long-lost uncle Barnabas and his daughter that recently reconciled with him tell Prosper the tale of how his ancestor, Honor Redding, made a deal with a demon to ensure their success and then broke the contract. They tell him that the demon, or fiend, survived anyway and was going to come back when the bloodline of the witch who killed him died. Uncle Barnabas tells him that the last descendant died (1/?)

How I connect to the book it I know the experience of feeling inferior to a twin. Prosper lies behind the shadow of his sister, Prue, and sometimes I feel the same way. Sometimes I feel that people like her more than they like me, and it hurts like how it hurts Prosper. However, I know that people don’t really feel that way and it’s only my stupid insecurities, but poor Prosper doesn’t really know that because (3/?)

The words are, “Spirits of Wickedness, ye Devils of Night, Shall bear no Entry to this Book of Might” (44). As Prosper goes to correct her, that there are indeed words on those suspiciously white pages, he experiences a feeling like being stabbed clean through with a scorching rod. He hears a scream, however it is not his own. He looks up to see the book on the table burst into white-hot flame. (2/?)

Prosper’s parents warned him to get him and his twin sister out of the cottage, although they didn’t tell him why. His two Great-Uncles are leading them to the dungeon for a “family meeting,” which will be stuffy because they have many relatives. As they get to the dungeon, their grandmother asks Prue (his twin) to read an old book. She says she doesn’t see anything but Prosper sees a red cursive scrawl appear. (1/?)
