Lots of visceral animal violence. It's there for a reason, to be juxtaposed with the brutality of the father's suicide I know, but it's still a tough read in parts.

It's pretty bad. I don't remember off the top of my head but I believe a live fish gets crushed to death in the first few pages in a really intense way.
