Any one remember the x files episode where some people started hearing this awful noise and had to keep traveling to get away from it or else something in their brain bursts and they die? This book so far is a unique retelling of that and I like it. That was a great concept for an episode of a tv show. And it's going to be interesting how much they can expand on it for a novel.

Wendig started dropping Stephen King references and it just dawned on me. This isn't just another Wendig novel this is his tribute to Stephen King. That explains why it's a slow and meandering with dull characters.. He's trying to emulate his style. The Stephen King style I never really liked. Now I'm not sure I want to finish. Never been a king fan at all.

Interesting in concept, but the slow burn is beginning to get to me. This is no where near as good as Wendig's Heartland trilogy. And with the fact that this is 800 pages long I feel I might struggle finish this bc it's only okay at best.
