b. this re-read is entirely fueled by seeing the film and falling in love with it, so i believe my opinion on this book now will wildly differ to what it was a few years ago.

c. haymitch's quarter quell when? 😔

a. i hate him. how dare he. i guessed lucy gray was playing a game but how bloody dare he. you do not mess with people through love. you don't do that.

b. honestly, all the action happened in the last 80 pages and i don't really remember much of it. it felt rushed.

c. i want to know what actually happened to lucy gray. was she shot? did she run away? what?

d. i love you deeply, but i love officers' academy more.

a. the more i read, the more i dislike snow. he seems to only like the idea of lucy gray and wants to turn her into someone he can publicly be with. if he loved her he wouldn't be killing the jabberjays or be insulting the covey being bird-like. realistically, these two would never work.

b. i wanna try ma's food, dammit. it sounds to die for.

b. "do you think i've committed treason?"
"not quite yet."

a. snow calling lucy gray "my girl" is starting to get a bit repetitive. at first i thought "aw, cute first love" but now it's just "we know. but cute." i feel the repetition is showing his naivety and that eventually she will not be his. i hope not. they're still sweet together.

b. a strange sensation at his neck called for his attention, and he found shamas sampling his collar. "oh, hello. can i help you, madam?"

a. picking this up again after a few months and i can genuinely say i still love it. the relationship between snow and lucy gray is just.. beautiful.

b. oh my god, "where a dead man calls out, for his love to flee". i get it now. why was that a really sad moment for me?

c. this is a surprisingly warm welcome for the person who nearly destroyed you!

Getting interesting, getting interesting. Can't see how much else can happen in the next half of the book but time shall tell.

Dare I say a better love story than THG? I think I shall.
