In order for Jessica to fulfill her non-stop, unassisted, solo circumnavigation, she had to follow many rules. These include no one is allowed to assisted her give her anything. She is not allowed to moor to a boat or port. She also had to reach a minimum of 21,600 nautical miles, which she did not meet! Some people questioned what she was doing because they thought she was to young to understand the risks.

If I got the chance to give advice to Jessica Watson, I would remind her to be more careful. Looking back on her first practice sail when she crashed into a 63,000 ton sea freighter I would remind her several things. I would advise her to pay more attention and be more aware of watch times. I would also remind her to keep her AIS on at all times, especially when you are sleeping.

This is a true story that Jessica Watson tells the reader about her experiences of sailing solo around the world therefore it is an auto biography and non-fiction. This is also an action/adventure because throughout her eight month journey she conquered many problems and tough decisions.
