Wonderful pastoral story so far, very Hardyesque.

While I'm not yet finished with the novel, this may well be the best book I've read in 2010 so far. This novel had to have influenced Thomas Hardy. A simply stunning novel!

A powerful and sweeping drama. I am slowly, but surely, falling in love with the little dark-eyed spitfire, Maggie Tulliver too.

SarahC You'll have to give us a comparison between the two Elliot Novels. (for those us initiated. I have only read Middlemarch, but need to reread it.)

SarahC I meant to say "un-initiated"!

Captain Sir Roddy, R.N. (Ret.) I am really loving The Mill on the Floss. Little Maggie Tulliver is just the most precocious and endearing little girl!
