Johnny has a broken back and is in critical condition. Johnny started talking to pony when they came into his hospital room. Then johnny's mom showed up and he didn't want them to let her in because he knew she would give him a hard time. After that johnny passed out cold and everyone left. Then darry and soda had to go to work so two-bit is baby-sitting pony and pony has a really bad feeling about tonight's rumble.

The rumble is about to start and they are getting ready to go. When darry says that he doesn't think its a good idea for pony to go to the rumble and earlier pony was thinking how only him and two-bit would be the one to fight. because soda and steve were playing cards.

They just saved a bunch of kids from a fire in the church, Ponyboy and johnny jumped into the window and got all the kids out. When the church started falling down more and more dally punched ponyboy in the back to get ash off of his back and then he passed out. Now they are in the hospital and are doing better, Ponyboy has some bruises but he's okay as well as everyone else

They are at the restaurant and just ate. Now they are thinking about going back home. johnny wants to go home because he doesn't think its fair that Ponyboy and him have to live out hear alone for their lives. Johnny also mentioned that he has family over on the country side.
