Dally came to visit and gave a letter to Pony that was from soda that said he wanted Pony to come back. The church caught on fire and Johnny, Dally, and Pony went in to save the kids and johnny broke his back and Dally was bruised, and Dally knocked Pony out. Johnny was in bad condition but Dally was fine. Everyone was getting ready to fight the socs at night because the socs are made their friend is dead.

The big fight happens and pony gets really hurt and they go back to the hospital as fast as they can, and johnny dies right before there eyes. Then they went home to tell the news of the death and dally runs out and robs a store to get police to chase him and he gets gunned down.

After they got jumped, Pony woke up and saw Johnny looking in fear at someone he killed to save Pony's life. They might get arrested so they ran and caught a train to the country where they stayed at the abandoned church, and they went to get some supplies, and he ended up getting things to change their hair and look so they wouldn't get caught.

Johnny, Two-bit, Ponyboy, Cherry, and Marcia just finished a movie. Then they started talking about what makes socs and greasers different, until Pony started talking to cherry about Mikey mouse, which was Soda's horse he cared for. When Pony went home, Darry slapped him in the face because he was gone for to long, so Pony ran out and told Johnny, who was still in the parking lot, to run. they got jumped by socs.
