Wow. Just finished the chapter “The Night” and I’m flabbergasted and flummoxed. The idea that a nation without religious homogeneity ceases to be a nation floored me.

Got through part 1. The pace really picked up after page 150. The interaction between Captain Lebyadkin and Varvara had me laughing.
