Truly disgusting fact: "Hungry cockroaches will nibble on the fingernails of a sleeping person". And you wonder why your nails really don't seem to grow? (I'm not 'LOL' ing her, I am feeling ill).

To make snake antivenin. Hold a snake behind the jaws over a vessel until it squirts venom through it. Freeze and then dry it. Inject this into horses or sheep in ever-increasing sublethal doses until the animal achieves immunity. Draw the animal's blood and purify the serum which now contains antibodies against the venom and can be used on people.
No mention if the animal suffers or it is just pinpricks.

The tapeworms that can live inside us can be 45' long.A t-rex was 40'.These worms with no mouth, no intestines just a head, segments, excretory (!) and sex organs live and reproduce inside our guts for up to 30 years. The worm has an immature phase in cows and a mature one in people we get it from less than well-done steak and burgers. Would you even want to know you had one if you had no ill effects? Disgusting.

I'm reading some very disgusting, very shareable books right now, Silent Siren: Memoirs of a Life Saving Mortician, The Removalist: On the Front Line of Death Care and this one. I can't seem to stop myself from sharing the nasty bits. You have to think of it like going to a horror movie and having a virtual shiver at the gory scenes :-)

P.E. Ugh... :( Almost as mouthwatering as the mating habits of bedbugs as described in Bernard Werber's mock encyclopaedia :/

The pyemotid mite has males that hatch inside their dead mother's body and mates with his sisters and then dies. He never gets born! The sisters leave their mother's corpse and at least have a (nasty, blood-sucking) life.

P.E. Let us call it a day, shall we? xD That will be all for tonight! :D

Cecily Friends (maybe not for much longer!) keep sharing this close-up video of a praying mantis eating a (topical) murder hornet:

There's no blood that we'd recognise as such, obviously, but it's revolting!

langana I liked a lot sound track of that video, Cecily :)

I don't normally do updates, but then I don't normally delight in disgusting bits about dead bodies or nasty insects either. Times they are a-changing... (it's Covid-19 lockdown syndrome).

They had that in the Daily Rag the other day. Fascinating. There are lots of praying mantises (mantii?) around here including giant green ones
