Currently it's 1943, Dorthy Vaughn has taken a job at Camp Pickett in Virginia assisting in the laundry room with many other women. The women's husband and/or loved ones like her own have are in the military fighting WWll. Even though with her current status she takes the job, despite being looked down upon. She works to insure her children have essentials for school, because discrimination can ruin anyone's life.
