In my book, one symbolic archetype is a storm. When Brian was finally getting the hang of living in the woods by himself, a storm and tornado hits him. His shelter and most of his tools are destroyed. This also symbolizes Brian’s loss of innocence, and Brian after the storm is a lot tougher. Before, Brian would’ve cried about his tools, but instead, Brian told himself to get up, and make new tools and shelter.

In my book there were multiple connections that I made. One was a text to self, where Brian talks about what he needs to do in order to survive. He talks about creating a fire and doing things that he learned from books and shows. I personally haven’t been stranded in the middle of nowhere, but I think I would do them same thing, in recalling past memories of what people did in tv shows or books to live in the wild.

The main character of the book is Brian, who is 13 years old. He is going to his father’s house on a plane when the pilot dies. Brian has to land the plane by himself in the middle of nowhere, where he is surrounded by a forest. The inciting incident is when the pilot dies from a heart attack, and can’t get Brian to his father’s house. The book is told in third person omniscient, and I can read Brian’s thoughts.
