the new teacher and harry were talking because Harry's friends were at Hogsmeade and professor snape came in with a smokey potion.

Question- what does the potion do

Harry, Ron, Hermione go to their potion class and see professor snape and the author tells us that he favors his own group and after the class, Hermione seems to be suspicious by being in a different area than previously

Prediction- Hermione is hiding something

harry goes to his first class and gets worried because in his class of predicting the future and he is apparently going to die.

Question- why if this happens every year then hasn't she been fired is it because of the scarcity of the job?
