It’s nice to see Stephen, Lucien, Merrick, and Jenny settling in Japan, but it makes me sad that Stephen hasn’t seen Esther and Dan for 3 years. The Stephen-Esther friendship was one of my favorite things about this series.

Very brief story, told half in epistolary style in a letter from Stephen to Esther. A lot of this story was bittersweet: Stephen updating Esther while they’re apart (for years!), Stephen settling into a new job in Japan and life there with Lucien, Jenny giving birth, etc. It wasn’t what I was expecting, honestly, and I missed some of the familiarity of the English setting, TBH. But this opens a door for the HEA

Jenny is well and has a healthy girl weighing seven pounds who is called Lucy. This was her idea, it seems, and Lucien has quite possibly never been so pleased and proud about anything in his life. He reacts with much sarcasm, and fools nobody.
