Today I read about the abuse that Jack Gantls received while he was in prison. Characterization is also important in this section of the book because it shows the events and situations that Gantos was put in as he was was in prison at such a young age (age 21).

Today I read about how James has a friend named Glen who sells t- shirts ad invited him to a weed party so he can try smoking weed for the first time. Society can have others try things that they never tried before and leave them with the same thought for a while.

Today I read how the main character who is also telling his story (Jack Gantos) was in prison at the age of 21, he hasn't mentioned it yet. Characterization is important because Jack Gantos is describing his experience in a prison where he wished everyone got along and were calm but it was the exact opposite.
