Ponyboy has just been beat up by some Socs and has gotten out of it thanks to the gang. The whole gang sits down and talks about things like girlfriends and relationships. After Dally gets up and asks if anyone wants to come with him to the movies, no one agrees except for Ponyboy, Jonny, and maybe Two-bit.

The doctor finally let Pony and Two-bit see Johnny and Dally after a while of asking. When they entered the room they saw that Johnny was in a really bad condition. Dally was a little luckier but Johnny might be crippled for the rest of his life.

Pony, Johnny, and Dally are now in ambulances and are being taken to the hospital where they are going to get fixed up. Pony seems to be in the best condition while Johnny wasn't as lucky. If Johnny were to survive he would be crippled for the rest of his life.

When Ponyboy arrives home he gets slapped by Darry and yelled at. He then decides to stay the night out on the streets with Johnny. While Johnny and Pony are walking around a car comes up with a bunch of Socs in it. They start to drown Ponyboy when Johnny kills one with his knife.

Ponyboy, Jonny, and Dally have just arrived at the drive in movie theater. After they sit down they realize that there are two Soc girls in front of them. Dally picks a verbal fight and tries to get close to them.
