Love how chapter 2 begins with Arzee recounting a silly, reckless thing that happened to "a friend" of his - people are sympathetic until they realize Arzee is really talking about himself. "This revealed an important aspect of human nature, which was that people could hold one opinion in the general case and completely the opposite one in the particular, and never spend a moment worrying over the inconsistency."
