Just wondering how long these books which morph into bestsellers overnight would stay in the minds/hearts of readers . Perhaps , this is the best and worst time for Indian publishing . Best because every book gets published and read , worst because no one remembers the story afterwards

And what scares me is every new author tries to emulate these marketing gurus . Poor grammar, Uninspired narration , glaring editorial mistakes, stale themes , yet your book makes it to "National bestsellers" within a month . And the new authors who come up again have CB , PS and AT as idols , so the cycle never ends ....BTW , purchased Amish Tripathi...couldn't get past the first 20 pages :(

"Sea of Poppies" a wonderful example of quality writing fared averagely in comparison to its unworthy opponent "One Night @ the Call Center". What a pity!
Get a bollywood star to endorse the book. Check.
Pay for a dozen breakfast shows to praise the goddamn apology for writing. Check.
Sneak in the IIM/ IIT angle. Check.
Get a dumb music channel host to interview spectacled, nerdy looking kids about the book. Check.
End result : Book sold!
Sad part is, our gullible crowds took the bait and the scary part is that the publishing houses knew what the bait was!
Marketing not writing skills is what brings in the moolah in our country.
