"In the Ion, he writes in glowing metaphors of poetic inspiration, and, at the same time, he enigmatically raises grave doubts about the knowledge that was supposed in his time to come through poetry. In the Hippias Major he depicts Socrates' search for knowledge of what is good and beautiful, there encapsulated in the word Kalon (translated "fine").
