If you live in the west then you can safely skip the first chapter. This book offers NOTHING new to the western audiences and shed NO light whatsoever on the issue. It's supposed to provide some strategic viewpoints on the "China Problem" as the author promised at page 5 but instead what you found is piles of cliché China bashing

I'm only on page 2 but already genuinely disappointed that after what 5 years of preparation and loads of grant spent on the study the author still look at China the same way as the general public of the rest of the world. The way the author sees the national day parade and his comments on the propaganda is just out of touch with China's recent history and her people's feeling:not to earn respect but to self defend !
