So much bigotry surrounding where people are from. The absolute character assassination of the Flemish people alone is ridiculous. The main character is so unlikable and is constantly sizing people up to feel superior to them, while faulting that same instinct in others. Almost a bizarre about of misogyny compared to other Hunsde works. Hunsde with any kindness and Crimsworth despises him. This is such a weird novel.
