Even before Israel was created the Arabs and Jews had problems. For example, "several centuries before Muhammad's birth the Jews effected important Arab settlements"(70). Since the Jewish people had great influence on many people they were other Arabian countries such as Yemen were primarily Jewish states.

Growing up In a certain environment can change or give you skeptical views about races of people. For instance in the text it states " Hatred develops like a drug addiction. First you throw a stone... then you throw a bomb on top of a bank... Hatred of Jews was my education"(13). This shows that you don't always no what's right you follow people that you trust and they might no lead you in the right direction.
