A particular line of dialog in my book is when the main character's mother is talking to him about brnging his grades up and says, "Either leave the art club or don't go out for basketball", then the main character says, "Yeah, I know. Maybe I'll give up the art club." This reveals that the main character's mother cares about her son's grades, and that her son is responsible about them.

The point of view is 1st person. This gives me insight to the main character's own thoughts, which strenghtens my understanding of him. An example of this is, "That ammonia bother you?" "Not that much," I lied." In this example I know that the main character lied. If this were told from a different point of view I would not know this.

An incident in my book is when the main character's grandman gets sick, and is in the hospital. This provokes the decision of the main character, who hates hospitals, to go to the hospital and visit his grandma.
