Goggins was planned and ready for his race, but a new obstacle came his way ASD,a heart problem, and he wasn’t able to do his race. Now his time in the SEALs demanded more of him since the battle in Iraq is escalating, so he put his training behind and focus on fighting the battle. Although his team wasn’t called to fight he still wanted to fight in a way, so he joined the Army Rangers.

During his planning for the race, he learned a lot more about nutrition, and how to prep his body for a grueling race. In doing so he was mentally and physically prepared, and he was able to finish the race. Goggins still wasn’t satisfied with him self and wanted bigger, so now he wants to do the Race Across America to test his limits.

After he finished he his first 100 mile race, he thought he would be able to get into Badwater. Goggins thought wrong, so he decided to run the Hurt 100. This the hardest 100 mile race, and he barely was able to complete it. In his completion of the race it allowed him to be let into Badwater. He realized he needed to do something different, so he planned more before going on the run.

Goggins came up with the idea to run the Badwater race which is a 100 mile race in 24 hours. This is the first time he would of ever done anything like this, so the race director didn’t want to let him in. However Goggins being so determined he decided to run a different 100 mile race to prove to him. He went through a lot of pain, but he completed the race and now he is off to Badwater.

Goggins fast forwards a couple of year after he made it into the Seals, and found some bad news. Operation Red Wings- later was formed into a movie Lone Survivor- had gone bad which was an op that a 4 man seal team that became the worst thing in seal history. Morgan Luttrell, the brother of one of the 4 men, was good friends with David, and David wanted to find a way to honor his brother.

After he completed buds he went to medical to get checked out, and found out he fractured his knee cap. This meant he had to drop out and start all over again. Goggins went back to Indiana to see what was next for him, and to see his ex wife. During this time she got pregnant, and he realized he needed to use everything in him to graduation Seals for last attempt.

David, his mom, and his brother finally decided to leave, and try to start a new life for themselves. The first year they felt like they were going to be free of all the bad things but they were wrong. His brother left them and went to go live with his father, and David was starting to have a rough time in school. He was failing in his classes, and he started to cheat his was around so he wouldn’t get kicked out.

David Goggins starts off telling about his troubled childhood. He grew up in a small town controlled mostly by whites. He was always picked on since he was the only black family. Also he faced problems at home with his father. His father abuses him and what it to stop.
