Do you like this one? I heard that K doesn't have much scripture in it because it's just the letters. I also heard that pictures take up too much of the writing space. I have not seen it in person.

Check out a sample here: http://www.sonlight.com/attachments/R...You know, I can't say I like the exercises better than than HwoT. I like the style of the letters of ARFH- HwoT letters/numbers always seemed a little off - and some of them downright confusing. Also, I like the 2 solid line and dotted middle line better than HwoT. My older boy tried HwoT because he is a lefty - but he got confused by the 2 lines only and some of the letters/numbers (he learned to write at his orphanage with the lines and specific style of letters).
So for my youngest I thought I would give ARFH a try - I also chose it over the getty-dubay (which style I love the best) because the practice sheets I saw used just one line and were free floating - which seems confusing and I would think create less uniformity.
At the end of the day - I don't like any of the kindergarten books. They are overly simple - so I always do supplemental work to help my boys practice. I am a big believer in learning to write well (unlike most schools today). I think good handwriting is a great skill to have.
I was sad, when my older son went into Public school - due to complex issues - that his handwriting, which was so beautiful and better than mine, drop to looking like he had just learned how to write. The teacher never said anything - and then on a few assignments even complimented his atrocious handwriting. At back-to-school nights, I understood why - most of the other kids' handwriting looked like chicken scratchings (and he was in 4th grade). It was acceptable to the teachers. I guess as long as they can type - there is no reason to learn good handwriting.
Nevertheless, I think it is a wonderful skill, it teaches great small motor control and strength that transfers over to other skills.
I hope that once we get past the Kindergarten level we will see more copy-work and better exercises. My youngest is flying through the kindergarten level so we may be jumping up levels faster than his grade level.
Do you know of any other programs that might be better than what Sonlight offers (I haven't spent as much time searching beyond that).
